It’s easy for most of us to feel good about ourselves on our birthdays. There are friends and family members that dote on us and buy us treasured gifts. There are emails reminding us of our special day with a discount or free item from our favorite restaurants and places to shop. And we can’t forget all of the text messages and social media posts to show us how much we are loved. But what happens the other 364 days of the year, when we aren’t being celebrated and it’s “business as usual?”
When people groan, “I’m turning ___,” my response is, “Do not complain! You are alive!”
It is personal to me because my mom didn’t see her life past 41. At 39, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. They gave her 3 months to live, and while she went on to live another 18 months, she didn’t get to see age 42. She never got to meet her granddaughter. Celebrate and embrace that you are alive today.
The whole reason A Line Boutique exists is to make women feel relevant, seen, and confident, and to empower them to say “I am enough” every day.
Most of us have tried the latest trends in self care: joined a new gym, practiced daily affirmations, or taken a remote spa vacation. But today and this week, I want to challenge you, in a kind and heartfelt way, to wake up tomorrow and every day after that saying to yourself,
“I Am Enough. Nothing that I do or don’t do is going to change that.”
I want you to give yourself permission to be content with where you are and what you are doing right now. You don’t need to lose weight, be in a relationship, have children, have your dream job or run your own business to feel like enough.
I also want you to practice asking yourself,
“What Do I Want To Do Today?”
instead of “What should’ I do today. Put your to-do list on hold, and instead ask what will feel good for your soul.
